(delta) 3-Carene is a bicyclic monoterpene naturally found in Gum turpentine. It presents as a colourless liquid with a strong woody odour. Extracted from pine tree oil, 3-Carene is primarily utilised as a key raw material in the production of synthetic fragrances.

  • Fragrance & Cosmetics Raw Material: Serves as a raw material for perfumes, cosmetics, and terpene resins.
  • Flavour Compound Precursor: Used as a synthetic precursor for specific flavour compounds, such as 4-hydroxymethyl-2-carene, 4-acetyl-2-carene, and 3,4-carene epoxy.
  • Pesticide Applications: Serves as a raw material for Chiral IR trans-chrysanthemic acid, which is used in the production of chiral pesticides.
  • Food Preservative: Due to its bacteriostatic effect, it can be used as a food preservative and fresh-keeping agent.
