Structure & Industrial

The structural adhesive is needed to bond multiple identical or different substrates together. Compared to adhesives used for other purposes, structural adhesives are required to withstand the forces involved during the product's service life. These forces can be either constant loads or intermittent. They are also susceptible to various external factors that can weaken or damage them, such as impact, vibration, chemical exposure, temperature fluctuations, and more.

Common structural adhesives include anaerobic adhesives, cyanoacrylate adhesives, epoxies, methacrylates, polyurethanes, UV curing adhesives, and others.

Another trend in structural adhesives is the substitution of fasteners, particularly in industries such as automotive manufacturing.

Rosin resin plays multiple roles in structural adhesives: it enhances adhesive strength, controls viscosity, improves water resistance, and enhances chemical resistance. Commonly used rosin-modified resins in structural adhesive formulations include pentaerythrite modified rosinate and rosin modified phenolic resin.
