Hydrogenated Resins Scheme
Due to the presence of double bonds in the molecules of Polyterpene resin (low-molecular-weight thermoplastic resin), it is prone to oxidation, resulting in a yellow or brownish color. Therefore, conventional Polyterpene resins have a darker color (Gardner color greater than 5), which affects the application of downstream products.
By employing catalytic, hydrogenation, and other preparation processes for polyterpene resin, Hydrogenated Terpene Resin with a lighter (even colorless) color can be produced, significantly improving weather resistance. It also exhibits good compatibility with polymer systems such as EVA, SBS, SIS, etc.
The hydrogenation process also involves the addition of hydrogen to unsaturated bonds (double or triple bonds) in the molecules of modified resin product, leading to the saturation of these bonds and the formation of a more saturated and stable structure.
