Nerolidol

Nerolidol, also known as peruviol or penetrol, is a naturally occurring sesquiterpene. It is found in various essential oils, including neroli, petitgrain oil, cananga oil, and jasmine oil. Nerolidol appears as a colourless to pale yellow clear oily liquid with a distinctive minty floral odour. Its purity is typically 90% minimum.

Nerolidol is industrially prepared using linalool as the raw material, which is converted into geranyl acetone, followed by ethynylation and hydrogenation reactions.

Application & Uses

Features & Benefits

Nerolidol imparts a subtle, delicate floral fragrance that is generally pleasant and not overpowering. Its floral notes primarily include lavender, lily, and cedar, with dominant nuances reminiscent of lily of the valley. Despite its delicate nature, Nerolidol possesses a high concentration of aroma and a broad spectrum of effects. It is well-suited for enhancing a variety of more volatile fragrances, capable of increasing their depth and richness, thereby helping perfumers unlock their intrinsic flavouring properties.
