Terpinen-4-ol

Terpinen-4-ol is an isomer of terpineol, widely found in various natural plants, especially as the main active component of turpentine oil and tea tree oil, and also found in lavender oil and nutmeg oil. It typically appears as a pale yellow viscous liquid, emitting a mild earthy and woody odour, with fresh herbaceous, camphoraceous, and medicinal nuances.

In addition to its natural occurrence, Terpinen-4-ol can also be prepared by the hydration reaction of sabinene, or produced by the oxidation, hydrogenation reduction, and selective hydrogenation of terpinolene.
