Rose oxide is naturally found in Bulgaria rose oil and reunion geranium oil. It appears colorless to pale yellow liquid with floral and rose odor. Rose oxide is mixture of CIS and trans isomers, and there are right-handed and left-handed rotation types. The odor of CIS is sweet and delicate, while the odor of trans isomer is green. Rose oxide is prepared by the photosensitized oxidation of citronella. It is widely applied in the fragrance formulation of daily chemical products.
