Abietic Acid (CAS 514-10-3)

Abietic acid is a white, resinous powder derived from rosin. The process involves distilling rosin, steaming out the residual turpentine oil, filtering it at around 210°C, and then cooling and crystallizing to obtain the final product. This acid is widely used in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries, as well as in various other applications, including as a pesticide emulsifier, textile sizing agent, construction material lubricant, plasticizer for plastics and rubber, and a paint drier.
