松油醇为单环萜醇类化合物，天然存在于松树油、杂薰衣草油、橙叶油、橙花油等精油中。呈粘性液体，易趋结晶。伴有松木、丁香香气。分别有α-Terpineol、β-Terpineol、γ-Terpineol三种异构体，其一般工业制品分为左旋、右旋、消旋三种光学异构体。过去制取工艺中，先使α-蒎烯在酸性条件下水合作用生成水合萜二醇，脱水后制得。自上世纪80年代后已实现直接水合成松油醇的新工艺。

  • α-松油醇加氢后可制得对孟烷-8-醇，经脱水得众多不饱和萜烯混合物。香料工业中常需制备松油醇的酯类衍生物，如乙酸松油醇
  • 因其丁香香气，其衍生物甲酸松油酯和乙酸松油酯可用于香精配制
  • 用作玻璃器皿上色彩的溶剂
  • 用作农化，如杀虫剂增效剂
  • 用作增粘剂单体
