二氢月桂烯醇由二氢月桂烯氯代，再碱水中水解制得。也可先将二氢月桂烯用醋酸或甲酸酯化，再碱性下皂化水解制得。呈液体，伴有柠檬香、薰衣草香。可用作日化香精配方，尤其适宜用作皂用香精。（配方含量可达20%）
